Client:

The property management company I previously worked for reached out to me to create a logo for one of their new properties they were managing called The Point. The task was to create a simple logo incorporating the shape of the famous Seattle Space Needle with a two day deadline.

A demographic of millennials…

I continued to work with the property management company and the owner to understand more about the building and collected information about any specifics they requested. I learned that the building is located near Pike/ Pine place, near colleges and many corporate buildings with a demographic of college students and many employees that are millennials. I also collected blueprints of the building and learned that the architecture was modern and triangular shaped.

Oh… and don’t forget the Space Needle.

Based on the information and data collected I also looked at what competitors were creating in their logos. I noticed they added text to their logos, and used simple line work and shapes. I started to sketch and  incorporated triangles based on the triangular shape of the building, I created a side sketch of the Space Needle, and combined both ideas, with a simple and modern look to attract the audience.

I sent the sketches for review to the owners for feedback. After a few were selected, I took them and created them in Illustrator, creating multiple iterations and presented them one more time for feedback and selections for the final revision. Then, I  finalized the logo along by using font and colors to match the building colors.

The story of the logo reflects half of the Space Needle filled with sharp curved line work to resemble a ballpoint pen marking and the modern culture we have today in Seattle. The purpose is to attract an audience who are either college students or moved to Seattle for a new job and need a new home to reflect their new lifestyle.
