There is no doubt that it is becoming more difficult to create new friendships, especially when you’re new to the city and everyone seems to be a stranger. It is also difficult to have meaningful conversations when everyone is constantly on their phone. This case study finds the solution to creating new friends in today’s digitally-driven society. By leveraging technology, this solution will create long-lasting friendships and memorable experiences.
Problem Statement
Those who are new to the city need a way to easily find people with compatible personalities to befriend because of terrible past experiences meeting new people who were either boring or rude.
User Research
Research Goals
Understand how individuals meet other people whether virtually or in-person.
Discover how individuals determine when establishing a friendship.
Uncover any pain points when meeting new individuals when meeting new people.
Methodology
For my methodology, I conducted user interviews along with online surveys for those who weren’t able to have an in-person interview. Not only would I have still gained insight from individuals in-person but I will gain insights from those who have more clear and concise throughout answers.

User Testing
Users were given three tasks to complete, given after each task was completed. Having the user complete the tasks helped me understand that the flow of the wire frames could be streamlined and more content was needed to guide the user during each case scenario.
The results were pretty clear that the idea was useful. But some of the options selections weren’t clear and disrupted the pathway for the user. Seeing users at first hand opened up those discoveries. One major key takeaway was to make a way to make the app less romantic since 1:1 settings could appear like so.
